Plains is seeking a seasoned professional for the role of Specialist, NGL Assets Finance. You will require a minimum of 7 years' experience to be successful in this role, which reports to the Manager, Asset Services. You will be responsible for leading the budgeting and planning, financial, and performance reporting for Plains' facilities business segment. In this fast paced and deadline driven environment, you'll need superb organization skills and the ability to pivot as business needs dictate.

This is a hybrid position, combining work at our Calgary office with working from home.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycle for the facilities business segment.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and performance reporting per internal and external requirements.
  • Establish key performance metrics, estimates, and assumptions for use in facilities models.
  • Create and present various budget and business performance data to senior management.
  • Explain the facilities business financials in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Make recommendations to various business groups and senior management to optimize assets or seize opportunities where possible.
  • Continually identify areas of improvement, documenting potential efficiencies and leading process improvement opportunities.
  • Lead internal controls processes and information gathering for internal and external auditors.
  • Optimize existing processes by evaluating current systems to identify inconsistencies or opportunities.
  • Plan tasks to ensure deadlines are met and sufficient time is available for review prior to submission.
  • Prioritize tasks of the group to ensure completion within the prescribed deadlines.
  • Coach analyst-level staff to ensure they are receiving the proper exposure and growing their knowledge.
  • Understand commercial agreements and commitments to facilitate administration.
  • Work closely with internal departments to identify discrepancies and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Ad hoc analytical assignments and reporting as required.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in accounting or finance (CPA or CFA designation preferred)
  • 7-10 years' relevant experience required
  • RightAngle and Oracle Fusion experience a strong asset
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills-must possess advanced Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively
  • Positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Possess a sense of urgency and accountability, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative by undertaking tasks independently
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
